Life School Gym & Tornado Shelter

In the early stages of design, GATE Precast collaborated with NCA Partners on the design of Life School in Carrollton, TX. The owner took full advantage of the design flexibility of a total precast building solution to build a new gymnasium with the added benefits and security of an ICC 500 compliant storm shelter. Combining structural components with pre-stressed, insulated architectural precast concrete wall panels with an acid-etch finish and vertical rib patterns created a safe and durable enclosure system that was installed in five days. 

When the gym was built, it was one of the few in North Texas that could withstand an EF tornado with 250 mph winds.
