Nordstrom, The Woodlands

Nordstrom used the aesthetic versatility of precast concrete to achieve a contemporary look that became the new store signature, representative of their branding. 

The concept was developed through a design-assist collaboration with GATE Precast, CallisonRTKL and the owner. The precast concrete façade system combined four different finishes, comprising polished, burnished, acid-etched and sandblasted, in addition to, a ribbed pattern of reveals to create subtle distinctions in the white concrete panels that project an image of sophistication and elegance.

The architectural precast façade also provides the enclosure’s integral thermal envelope, edge-to-edge insulation, integral vapor barrier and air barrier resulting in less than 1% energy loss through the enclosure. High-performance precast provides designers with the versatility to create innovative, energy-efficient and unique designs like that of Nordstrom. 

GATE Precast has produced over 20 stores with Nordstrom; seven of which feature this signature finish that will define their brand for future generations.
